Workplace Violence in Health Care Remains Top Priority for Nation’s Registered Nurses

During the annual Membership Assembly, many vital issues that affect the health, safety and well-being of nurses were addressed amongst others. Ending workplace violence in health care remains a top concern for nurses. ANA continues to lead strong and consistent efforts to address this critical issue, which has only worsened. As part of these efforts, ANA recently announced earlier this month that the revised official position statement on workplace violence is available for the public to provide comments.  Read more here.

CEO and Founder of ‘Uber for Nurses’ Receives the Jeannine Rivet Award

ANA is pleased to announce Jasmine Bhatti, MS, RN, as the 2024 recipient of the prestigious Jeannine Rivet National Leadership Award. This annual award is sponsored by the Jeannine Rivet National Leadership Fund, a $10,000 fellowship established through a 10-year partnership between the Foundation and the United Health Foundation (UHF), the philanthropic foundation of UnitedHealth Group. Read the full news release here.

ANA Responds to U.S. Supreme Court’s Decision to Preserve Access to Mifepristone

On June 13, 2024, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously dismissed U.S. Food and Drug Administration v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine due to its lack of legal standing. ANA is encouraged by this decision and continues decades-long advocacy work for reproductive justice and sexual health in support of all patients and individuals. Tri-Council Supports National Health Science Standards

The Tri-Council for Nursing, of which ANA is a member, on March 15 announced their support for the National Consortium for Health Science Education’s (NCHSE) National Health Science Standards. The National Health Science Standards provide educators and students with a comprehensive curriculum framework for health science classes based upon core knowledge transferable to many health professions. Read more in the NCHSE newsletter.

Yearly, the American Nurses Association in partnership with the State Nurses Associations, compiles a list of nurses who have passed away within the last year.
