FLORIDA PASSES NEW PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

Effective July 1, 2025 All Nurses and Advanced Practice Nurses are required to comply with background screening requirements which include fingerprinting with initial licensure or renewal of their professional license. The Florida Legislature passed new licensing requirements under HB 975 that impacts all Registered Nursing License renewals.

Individuals seeking an initials Florida Nursing License will be required to complete a new background screening which include fingerprinting as part of their application.

All Registered Nurses/APRNs renewing their license will be required to complete the screening requirements ahead of their next renewal period. Background screening must be completed no earlier than 90-120 days before their license expires. Failure to comply with the background check may result in delays in license renewal.

ALL SCREENED PROFESSIONALS are required to repeat their fingerprinting every 5 years. The cost of fingerprinting is approximately $43.25 dollars and much be completed at an authorized location no earlier than 75 days prior to license renewal. Fingerprinting must be completed no later than 15 days prior to license expiration date.
