The Florida Nurses Association seeks your assistance to improve workplace safety for nurses who work in Surgical Centers.

Legislative Action Alert: Nurses in Senate District 14 Needed!(Senate District 14 includes parts of Hillsborough County)For the past several years, the Florida Nurses Association has been working diligently to pass legislation requiring mandatory surgical smoke evacuation in hospitals and surgical centers. Surgical smoke contains harmful chemicals, viruses, and cellular debris that threaten the health and safety of nurses, surgical teams, and patients.

After years of advocacy, we are closer than ever — and having Representative Josie Tomkow’s support will be crucial in advancing HB 93.
We need every nurse living in Senate District 14 to take action now. Please contact Representative Tomkow through either a handwritten note or an email. Requires hospitals and surgical centers to use smoke evacuation systems during procedures that generate surgical smoke. This bill aim to protect healthcare workers and patients from the hazards of inhaling surgical smoke, which can contain toxic chemicals, viruses, and cellular debris.
