Florida House BIll 607: Health Care Practitioners now in House Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee

HB 607: Health Care Practitioners (formally Advanced Practice Registered Nurses) has been referred to the Florida House Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee.  This is the second of three committee stops for the legislation.

HB 607 would allow Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Physicians assistants to practice to the full extent of their education and training without the supervision of a physician in Florida.  (Note: Physician’s Assistant autonomous practice will be limited to primary care under the legislation.)

It becomes essential that the legislation passes through the House Appropriations Subcommittee.  Dr. Cary Pigman, the sponsor of the legislation, is the co-chair of the committee and will likely steer the bill through the committee to success.

To help ensure passage of the legislation it is recommended that individuals do the following:

1. Visit the committee website at: https://www.myfloridahouse.gov/Sections/Committees/committeesdetail.aspx?CommitteeId=3005

2. Email Dr. Pigman and thank him for his continued leadership in advanced practice issues

3. Contact committee members and encourage them to support HB 607: Health Care Practitioners
