CRNAs honored as being Community Heroes in COVID-19 Fight

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM) acknowledged the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthetists (FANA) as being Community Heroes in the fight against COVID-19. FANA lead the charge in coordinating over 3000 nursing volunteers to administer COVID Vaccinations in over 100 Vaccine centers across the state. Through the volunteer’s effort of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Registered Nurses FDEM was able to successfully vaccinate thousands of Florida Residents and save untold lives.

The response of Advanced Practice Nurses, and the Nursing Community, demonstrates the essential role the profession plays in meeting the public health needs of our state. FANA President John McDonough EdD, CRNA stated “I’m proud of the immediate, unselfish, patient-first response of FANA’s members to Gov. Ron DeSantis clarion call to action when the pandemic hit. FANA’s members made an incredible difference as part of Team Florida’s work to keep the state moving when the world came to a standstill,”
