National. Bureau of Economic Research Demonstrates APRN Safety

The National Bureau of Economic Research has published a study supporting autonomous APRN safety.  The paper, titled:

 NURSE PRACTITIONER SCOPE OF PRACTICE AND PATIENT HARM: EVIDENCE FROM MEDICAL MALPRACTICE CASES AND ADVERSE ACTION REPORTS investigated malpractice litigation rates against autonomous Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs).  The investigation found no harm to patients when APRNs achieve autonomous practice and demonstrated benefits to physicians with reductions in the rates of malpractice litigation and payouts.
